Teacher's comments
It's important to me that my students are able to actually use the Japanese and English we've practiced together. That's why I incorporate lots of speaking and listening activities, not just reading and writing. And of course, I try to make the content fun and interesting. If it's not fun, it won't stick. Language sticks better if it's connected to fun activities that students are actually doing. Of course, I also offer classes specifically designed to prepare students for exams like the JLPT, Eiken, and TOEFL. Even in those classes, I try to make the lessons interesting and make the language accessible. It's very satisfying to see my students repeat what they learned in my classes later, because they found it interesting or fascinating. Graduates also visit the school and talk to me using the language they learned in my classes. It's a truly wonderful feeling to think, "I did it!" and "I can have that conversation because I remembered what I taught you!"
Becoming a truly global citizen
We offer two courses: the "Special Advancement Course," which aims to help students enter not only national and private universities in Japan, but also overseas universities, including those in Korea, and the "General Course," which prioritizes students' language skills and entry into overseas universities. To help students enter national and public universities and prestigious private universities in Korea and Japan, we offer a wide range of elective courses to cultivate the skills necessary to realize their desired future.
multilingual education
A learning environment where students can master four languages is one of the country's unique strengths. Through a rigorous learning system, students acquire practical Korean with a balanced focus on listening, speaking, reading, and writing. You also gain a high level of English proficiency, cultivate rich expression and deep thinking skills in Japanese, and build a solid foundation in Chinese to achieve a conversational level. We are committed to fostering global talent, primarily in Asia.
Respect for Individuality
We welcome both students of Korean descent and those with an international perspective. They interact happily and enjoy their daily student lives together. We don't believe in the idea that "this is how a high school student should be." Instead of holding students to the same standard, we value each individual's unique personality, understand their thoughts, challenges, and goals, and build a deep relationship of trust. Above all, we hope they will learn from and grow with each other through their interactions.
Kenkoku High School is the only private high school that offers a specialized course for students who require Japanese language support.
Student Interview
I decided to enroll at Kenkoku High School because I can study a variety of languages. Kenkoku High School is a school attended by students with a variety of backgrounds. Therefore, I thought I would be able to gain a lot of knowledge and language skills by being exposed to many languages and cultures. Also, from my first impression, the school atmosphere was very good, and all the teachers are kind and polite. My fellow students in the Japanese Culture major have the same goal of passing the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), so we encourage and help each other and enjoy studying.
There are people from many different countries at Kenkoku High School, and you can make lots of friends. Every day is lively, with students sharing what's popular in their home countries and recommendations for food. You might feel anxious about studying in an environment different from your home country, but don't worry, all of the teachers teach slowly, carefully, and in an easy-to-understand way. I wanted to learn English as well as Japanese, so I'm very happy to have been able to enroll at Kenkoku High School, where multiple languages are spoken and English is spoken on a daily basis.
